November at Firefly Forest School began with costumes and big questions, and ended with the last leaves of autumn. In between, our nature-based classrooms in Bangkok were full of firefighters, tiny garden creatures, Friday nature walks and hands-on cooking. Here is a look back at the month.
Halloween: more than a fright
Our Halloween celebration on 31 October spilled happily into the first days of November on our feeds. This year the theme went deeper than spooky costumes. As our Thai caption put it, Halloween became “more than fear – a journey of the spirit” (ฮาโลวีน…มากกว่าความหวาดกลัว สู่การเดินทางของจิตวิญญาณ). The day was full of fun games, short plays, a witch’s house with potion-making, and of course Trick or Treat, followed by a gentle reflection circle.
In that circle, children were invited to talk about questions that all of us have wondered about at some point: where do we go after we die, will we meet our family and ancestors again, and what happens to people who do good or bad things? We believe that exploring these ideas calmly helps children see death as a natural, peaceful part of life, and understand that the small actions we choose every day shape who we become. Halloween at Firefly is our chance to turn something society often frames as scary into a meaningful memory.

And yes, there was dancing. One of our young witches and wizards could not stop moving once the music started:
A visit with the firefighters of Lat Phrao
A big thank you to the firefighters of the Lat Phrao fire station, who are always so kind to our children. This activity was so valuable for the children: meeting real community helpers up close turns safety lessons into something children remember.

Exploring nature every Friday
Every Friday our Explorers head out for “Exploring Nature”. These outings are simple by design: time to look, touch, listen and wonder. Connecting with the natural world in this way builds a deeper appreciation for its beauty and for everything it gives us.

Some of the most memorable moments came from the smallest creatures. Snails and other tiny garden visitors drew the children in. We don’t tell children to care for these animals. Instead we let a real, heartfelt connection grow from the inside, one careful observation at a time.

Little chefs in the kitchen
Mid-month, the children rolled up their sleeves for some hands-on cooking. Working with real ingredients lets them unlock their creativity while practising focus, patience and teamwork.
Into the Woods Camp #27: a One Piece adventure
We also opened registration for the 27th Firefly Forest Camp “Into the Woods” on 21–22 November at Suan Wang Kaew Resort in Rayong, with both camping and resort rooms available. The theme was a One Piece Adventure Camp, inviting campers to dive into the blue ocean as brave fishermen, travel alongside Luffy on his quest to become King of the Pirates, explore the Grand Line, discover the power of Devil Fruits and search for the legendary One Piece. A big family adventure before winter arrives.

Goodbye, autumn
As the month wound down we said “Goodbye Autumn” and shared photos from our Leave Week. Little hands, big adventures: growing up with nature’s wonders all around them. These weeks were a reminder that learning isn’t confined to a classroom. It happens wherever a child’s curiosity takes them.

As our school keeps growing, we are also looking for new team members. If you’d like to be part of it, meet our team and find out more.
Would your child enjoy days like these? Come and try our weekend playgroups, explore our programs from playgroup to primary, or book a school tour and visit us at Lat Phrao Soi 35. We’d love to show you around the forest.
